“I waited patiently for the Lord, and He turned to me and heard my cry for help. He brought me up from a desolate pit, out of the muddy clay, and set my feet on a rock, making my steps secure.” (Psalm 40:1-2, HCSB)

Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, asking you to pray for family who are struggling in their marriages.

After getting married and moving to a strange, new city where she knew no one, Karima*, a new Moroccan believer, thought her biggest struggles would be adapting to her new surroundings and adjusting to married life. She never imagined that her biggest stress would be learning to live with her new mother-in-law. From ripping her clothes from the clothesline and refusing to let her close her own door, to questioning everything she does, it seems to Karima that her mother-in-law despises her. How does she keep a Christ-like attitude amid the struggles?

Sara*s son has often had nightmares about death and the afterlife. His father and mother are in the middle of a long, drawn-out divorce that has legal ramifications in two countries: their host country in Europe and their country of origin Turkey. Sara’s son often wakes her up in the middle of the night to ask what will happen after he dies. She tries to console him, letting him know that Allah is just and that Allah will take care of them; however, so far it is not helping him to feel safe. It has been several years since her almost ex-husband has seen his children. Without Jesus in their lives, it is difficult to find emotional peace and security. Sara is spending time with believing friends who are regularly telling her stories from the Bible.

* Please pray that Sara and her children will soon choose to follow the Lord of lords who can calm their every fear.

* Intercede for Karima to find peace in the middle of the storm and to show love toward her mother-in-law.

* Lift up the families in your own congregation who are on the brink of divorce, asking God to restore their marriages and to protect their children from fear.
