You have the words of eternal life. Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” (John 6:68-69, NKJV) Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, rejoicing with you that Jesus saves! After more than two years of building relationships among a population segment of a Last Frontier people group, a woman in her 90s has given her heart to Jesus and has already followed up her commitment with baptism. Her years are many, but her mind is still very sharp as she invests in daily study of the Word. Vova* is a friend of workers among the Udmurts of Russia and he has become a believer while working through an alcoholism recovery program. People on both sides of the globe have been praying for him for years. He is committed to finishing the extended Christian-based rehab program, which includes discipleship, and will be away from home for the remainder of the year. Villagers are coming to faith each month among the Mountain Yi of East Asia. Though the groups are growing, there are too few leaders available to mentor and disciple new believers. As a result, existing leaders are exhausted and overwhelmed from traveling to various villages to lead in worship services. We have 11 new brothers and sisters from the Land of Fire, East Asia. They live in remote areas and need roots that will grow deep in the Word of truth. Their cultural tradition is of demon veneration, so these new followers will need God’s boldness in rejecting the old ways. * Please pray for the Miao of Land of Fire that they will be receptive to the Good News as these 11 new believers share their faith. * Ask God to move in the hearts of mature Mountain Yi Christians so they will willingly serve and lead in emerging churches. * Intercede for this nonagenarian and for Vova to grow in their relationship with Christ and to be bold in sharing the story of lives transformed with friends. *pseudonym |
