Prayer requests on the website are updated every Monday-Friday at 9:30 a.m., EST January 27, 2015 “The LORD is far from the wicked, but He hears the prayer of the righteous.” (Proverbs 15:29, HCSB) WORLD LEADER - “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1-2, NKJV). Please pray for Prime Minister Yahya Ould Hademine of Mauritania (northern Africa, between Senegal and western Sahara). AMAZON PEOPLES OF THE AMAZON RIVER BASIN (AM-uh-zahn) - “At that time . . . many false prophets will appear and deceive many people” (Matthew 24:10-11). The Amazon Peoples Team asks: “Please pray fervently for the work of our team. We have been working with four people groups for more than five years now. The people have come to the point where they are ready to make commitments to follow our Lord. Several weeks ago, a cult from the southern part of the country appeared in the river town. They began making visits and teaching false doctrine to many who have been studying the Word with us. They even baptized five people who were some of our most faithful participants. Please pray that God will intervene to stop the work of this cult. Pray that He will open the eyes of the people so they can see that the teachings of the cult are false and not biblical. Ask God to give the people the courage to stand up against these false prophets.” PEOPLE OF THE SWAN AREA, EAST ASIA - “In the SWAN area cities, we can’t take privacy for granted. The day I’m thinking of, the morning was grey and drizzly. Travel to the location was uneventful. As discretely as possible, with heads down, we entered and then exited the elevator. Upon entering the quiet, dimly lit apartment, I was surprised to see no one. We were directed to wait in a small room. We could hear muffled voices in one of the other rooms around the corner. A short time later, we were directed to that room. It was small (about 12 foot square) but filled with national believers who wanted more. They wanted more of the Word. They wanted to grow. They wanted to be better equipped. They wanted more of Christ! They had just finished a time of fervent prayer. We were there to remind them to glorify Him and to make disciples; to show them how better to share their stories--and The Story! They were excited and eager to learn. I learned the most and was encouraged, because in a place where ‘to not believe’ is the standard, I was surrounded by His children. Please pray for these and others like them who have believed, asking that they’ll never cease to glorify Him and make disciples. Pray also for all of those in the SWAN cities who’ve not yet heard; they are many! Ask the Father to raise up effective leaders among His people here, and workers to work in His harvest field worldwide.” For additional prayer requests, click here: Today’s Prayer (If you have difficulty with this link, please go to www.imb.org and click on the “Pray” tab, and then click on the “Today’s Prayer” link in the left-hand column.) |
