One worker wrote, “It seemed unreal to think that the Center of Disease Control’s projected number of Ebola cases would really reach 20,000 by the end of the year. At the time the projection was made, there were only 1,900 cases in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia, but the projections have proven true and the list of infected countries now includes Mali, Spain, and the United States. Ebola is ‘no respecter of persons.’ It prowls around seeking believers as well as members of unengaged, unreached people groups (UUPGs). We praise the Lord for the healing we are seeing in Liberia, with the number of cases declining, but we continue to pray fervently for the other countries and especially for Sierra Leone, where cases continue to surge upward. Many members of UUPGs are dying without having the opportunity to hear and trust in the name of Jesus.” One believer wrote, “I’ve been praying about the Ebola epidemic for eight months, since it first came to Guinea. At the beginning, I prayed only that God would end this horrible plague, but as time has gone by, He has changed my prayers to include interceding that people would be drawn to Him because of this devastating disease. My prayer has become like Jehoshaphat’s in 2 Chronicles 20:12b, when a vast army arose to attack Judah: ‘We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on You.’ The Lord told Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah that the battle did not belong to them, but to God. So Jehoshaphat trusted the Lord and the Lord delivered them.” * Please pray for God’s deliverance but also pray for spiritual eyes to be open to His Truth as individuals continue to face this physical crisis. * Ask the Lord to send in servants under His protection to heal the sick and to proclaim His name. * As you deal with trials cry out in confident hope, “I do not know what to do, but my eyes are on You, Jesus.” |
