(John 17:17, ESV) Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, rejoicing with you in the distribution of both the oral and written Word of God. The Swahili-speaking Arab woman of East Africa held her brand-new copy of the New Testament, wrapped simply in brown paper, close to her chest and asked, “Should I put this someplace special? Where do you keep yours? Do you have a special shelf for it?” This precious young woman is not yet a believer, but she already treats the Word of God with the respect it deserves. The Action Bible in its first Central Asian language is complete. Now the task before the Central Asian Peoples Communication Team is getting this new graphic-novel version of the New Testament out to large audiences. They are seeking book distributors to be willing to pick up this product and sell it in their stores. The team is also creating projects derived from the Action Bible that will help people understand the gospel. Doors continue to open to the Q people in southern Colombia. Missionary Danilo has been granted the opportunity to develop a radio program for families in the Q community. He shares: “I have already conducted two programs. I was invited to meet with the radio announcers and the governor to establish a weekly schedule for our family-oriented program. The program will air on Tuesdays and Thursdays for two hours each day.” * Please pray that the Q people will hear and understand the Bible stories of the free gift of God in Christ Jesus * Ask God to use this Central Asian language Action Bible project to draw many to Himself and pray for wisdom in knowing which languages to translate it into next. * Pray that the growing number of Swahili-speaking Arab believers will allow their copies of the Word not just to occupy a shelf of honor in their homes, but also a sanctifying presence in their hearts. |
