(Psalm 93:1, NASB) Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, joining you in prayer for evangelistic efforts. In Dhaka, Bangladesh, 10 women are attending the Light for Women vocational sewing training program. At the start of each sewing lesson, the women hear a story from the Bible in chronological order, starting with Creation and continuing through the resurrection of Jesus. Before this fourth session ends this month, we will give the women a clear and direct invitation to ask Jesus into their hearts as Savior and Lord. One young woman, Daneen*, has already expressed an interest. A group of Christian women from the Midwest stepped through the narrow entryway, walked past the mosque, and ventured into a community the polar opposite of their own. They were nervous, but they kept moving in faith that God would show them where He was at work in this Bihari Muslim community of Bangladesh. As they prayerwalked, a woman asked them to sit with her. They sat down, and a crowd gathered. Using a Bangla translator, one of the volunteers shared her powerful testimony. Soon a young woman began translating unsolicited into the Bihari heart language of Urdu. Farther down the walkway, a child and then her mother invited them into their small concrete home. The volunteers were sitting in the home, when their impromptu translator came in, plopped down, and said, “This is my home.” Then the woman who had asked them to sit with her earlier appeared. God had separately used four people to bring the volunteers to that one family! * Please pray for the salvation of this Bihari family and their neighbors, who have now heard about God’s love. * Intercede for these women of Dhaka to become firmly established in a love relationship with Jesus that will benefit them eternally as well as firmly established in sewing jobs that will benefit their families financially. * Ask God to help you begin a conversation with someone who needs to hear the comforting, saving love of the Savior. *name changed |
