| Prayer requests on the website are updated every Monday-Friday at 9:30 a.m., EST June 11, 2014 "Hear my cry, O God; attend to my prayer. From the end of the earth I will cry to You.” (Psalm 61:1-2a, NKJV) WORLD LEADER - “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Please pray today for President Ma Ying-jeou of Taiwan (eastern Asia coast). COASTAL SWAHILI PEOPLES OF EAST AFRICA (swah-HEE-lee) - “This month, we will host a group of eager young professionals from the United States who want to impact lostness along the coast of East Africa. They will forego the comforts of home for three weeks so they can lead Swahilis to eternal comfort. They will endure the heat and humidity so they can bring Living Water to thirsty souls. Pray for this team, asking that they will find favor in the eyes of the community, that they will be bold in their witness, and that many Coastal Swahili people will hear the Gospel message in a way that they can understand.” DECCANI MUSLIMS OF INDIA (deh-KAH-nee) - “Last December, you were asked to pray for a Muslim non-literate farmer from the Deccan who had come to Christ in recent years. He had led his neighbor to Jesus and had baptized him in a local irrigation canal. His wife had made a profession of faith in Jesus, but his mother-in-law and son-in-law had not. Sometime last fall, he stopped communicating with the person who had won him to Jesus. At the farm last month, his wife shared with us that he was away on a 40-day journey with a popular organization that encourages compliance with Islamic traditions--often by force. Over the past decade, an ever-increasing element from within Islam in South Asia has attempted to reinvigorate Muslims with orthodox activity (Islamisation). They scour the landscape for non-practicing Muslims and compel them, through religious and social pressures, to become more orthodox: going to the mosque for prayers, fasting during Ramadan, etc. This farmer who had become a follower of Jesus had come under their scrutiny and pressure. There was no evidence of his wife’s faith in Jesus during our meeting, although that could be because her Muslim mother was there, keeping a watchful eye. Has this farmer re-embraced Islam? Pray for this farmer and others who may have succumbed to the pressures of the Islamic community out of fear. Pray that the Holy Spirit who resides within them will give them a hunger for God’s Word and a worshipful obedience of Him that is greater than their fear of man.” For additional prayer requests, click here: Today’s Prayer (If you have difficulty with this link, please go to www.imb.org and click on the “Pray” tab, and then click on the “Today’s Prayer” link in the left-hand column.) |
