The Molepolole Baptist Care Center is the second of its kind to be opened through the local Baptist churches to help poor and vulnerable children. Botswana has one of the highest AIDS infection rates in the world, leaving approximately 20 percent of its children as orphans. The Molepolole Baptist Care Center and its predecessor, the Lobatse Orphan Care Center, bring children in after school and help them with their schoolwork, feed them, and invest in them spiritually through Bible stories and songs. One little girl who comes to the care center has already had a heart attack, due to taking antiretroviral (ARV) drugs without having anything to eat. But now she is healthy and can come in every day and have a hot meal and take her ARV medicine. The churches didn’t have the capability through their tithe to sustain these two care centers, but they stepped out in faith, knowing that the Lord would provide. They’ve learned to make materials to sell, such as headbands, coffee cozies and scarves made from donated materials. Her name is Margaret*. Her third child lived less than six months when HIV/AIDs took her tiny life. That’s how Margaret and her husband discovered that they, too, carried the deadly virus. Just four years later, Margaret’s husband also passed away, leaving her with two children and no way to support them. She is currently searching for a job. * Please pray for Margaret and others like her to have the strength to bear sorrow upon sorrow. * Intercede for the Molepolole Baptist Care Center and the Lobatse Orphan Care Center, as well as the Tswana churches supporting them, that the Lord will continue to bless their faithfulness and service. * Ask God to bring healing to the children who are served at these facilities.
