Amid violence, fear and uncertainty in Yemen, our brothers and sisters in Jesus are walking in the confidence of God’s love. They have many opportunities to express that assurance to non-believing family members and friends. The year 2014 has been predicted to be a pivotal one for Afghanistan. The possibility of the foreign troops leaving at the end of this year and continued insurgent unrest has caused much fear and hopelessness for the future. Already this year, the country has experienced many suicide bombers, car bombs, and armed attacks. Believers face the same fears and confusion as others but they have a source of strength in Jesus Christ, who is steadfast and sure. As believers are getting to know Arab women in the United Kingdom and trust is growing between them, some of the women are beginning to tell of domestic violence that takes place in their homes. They trust the believers because they know they don’t gossip, and if these domestic issues were to come to light in the community, it would bring huge shame upon the extended family. Sadly, domestic violence is seen by many as culturally normal, but living in the United Kingdom, they are coming to realize that it doesn’t have to be. These tearful and broken women need the support of godly believers, while the believers need wisdom as they seek to serve each unique need. * Please pray for stamina for the believers and for the hearts of their friends to be open to God’s truth. * Pray that Tajik believers in Afghanistan will not be overcome with worry, but instead will seek the Lord for His comfort. * Intercede for the reign of the Prince of Peace to come to Yemen. |
