The Kuku are a people group in South Sudan numbering approximately 218,000. They have had no active church-planting efforts among them in the past two years. The Kuku primarily follow an ethnic religion. For instance, they believe that human beings have a mortal body and an immortal soul. However, they believe that after death, the spirit of the dead communicate with God and the living. If the necessary sacrifices are not made, the dead will cause the living relatives to become sick. There are more than 40,000 Khalaj people in Iran. This Turkic people group is yet unengaged and unreached with the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ. Nahala* is a Muslim Moor with midnight-black braids and a white-toothed grin. Her father is the imam of her village, the leader of their faith. While they extend hospitality to outsiders, there is one thing they do not welcome: the Good News. To them, Jesus is their prophet--nothing more. To believe that He is more is crossing a line in the sand, and crossing that line is very dangerous. Yet Nahala is intrigued by the stories about Jesus. She even dreams about Him--wearing white, calling her by name, inviting her to live an abundant life with Him forever. Nahala knows that He is special, and not just a prophet. She wants to know more about Him. * Please pray for Nahala to seek Jesus with her whole heart and for her father to become a believer who preaches the truth to the Northern African and Middle Eastern people he leads. * Pray that the Khalaj people of Iran will have access to the Gospel and bring glory to God Himself through transformed lives. * Intercede for the Kuku people to come to know that Jesus has already made the necessary sacrifice, and that He is the Truth that has set them free.
