“Having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.” (Romans 6:18, NKJV)

Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, asking you to pray for women.

In a sprawling metropolis as large as Garden City*, China, one need not look very far to find unquestionable evidence of total depravity. An alarming number of young women are arriving in the city each day after hearing that they can “make it big” financially by selling their bodies on the street. Grace* is a local pastor’s wife who ministers to these women who work the streets in broad daylight just a few blocks from her house church.

Young, migrant working women in Megalopolis*, China, most in their teens, are making horrible choices that are leading to abortions and convictions of murder in some cases. Millions of abortions are being done in the country, half by women under the age of 25.

A few believers in the United Kingdom spend Saturday evenings in homes where 10 to 25 Arab women are gathered. They go to try to develop friendships. As a result, during the week they are able to make visits to individual family homes. God seems to be revealing the sin in people’s hearts. As is true in many communities, much gossip runs rampant. The Arab women tell their believing friends that they hate it, and yet they all do it. They think that if they are separate from their community, they can feel freedom from the sin that is so evident. There is only One who can give freedom from sin.

* Please pray that these women in the United Kingdom and in China will have ears to hear Truth and eyes to see God’s holiness.

* Ask that God, in His great mercy, will show these women that they are valuable and precious to Him, and that the Son can set them free to live for His glory.

* Intercede for the women you know who are risking bad choices, trusting the Lord to bring them freedom from sin as they turn to His righteousness.
