Mission teams from Moncure Baptist Church of North Carolina, in cooperation with other churches, recently completed their fourth mission trip to northwestern Colombia to lead workshops for English teachers. Since this church has embraced the T and EK peoples of Colombia, their hope was to work with indigenous teachers, thus providing an open door to ministry with these groups. This inroad to the indigenous teachers was slow. Even so, they were able to develop close friendships with local Colombian pastors and their congregations, as well as develop meaningful relationships and share Christ with the Colombian teachers who did attend the conferences. This month, they begin a second cycle of four workshops. They are working with a different educational system and have been assured that they will be working with 25 to 30 people who teach in the indigenous schools of the area. Two partnership teams from the United States are working in several Quilombola communities of Brazil this month. A Tennessee team is working in a new community, and prayer is requested that God will open the hearts of the people to the Gospel and that the local team will faithfully water the seed until it bears fruit. A team from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, is working in several communities where work has already been started. They desire safety, boldness in proclaiming Christ, and sensitivity to the people. * Please pray for volunteer teams serving among the Quilombolas to build healthy, open relationships quickly and to sense the power of the Holy Spirit guiding their steps. * Pray that many people, including those from unreached people groups in Colombia, will hear the Gospel and will come to know Jesus. * Thank God for missionaries and local pastors who make themselves available and partner in ongoing follow-up work once a volunteer team returns to the United States. |
