Many Muslims in the Deccan go to the shrines built over Muslim saints’ graves in the hope of getting their prayers answered. Several followers of Jesus go to these same places to pray for those visiting and to speak of Jesus there. Often, their experiences point them to these conclusions: 1) Unless God is at work in someone’s life, it doesn’t matter what they hear. It will go in one ear and out the other. Therefore, they have to keep on sharing Jesus in order to find those in whom God is at work. 2) People are spiritually hungry; they want hope, peace and help from someone outside of themselves. 3) People are blinded by their traditions, their communities, and their religious customs and are spiritually dead. So . . . pray. Keep praying. Keep asking. Four men recently traveled 400 miles to reach Western Highlanders of East Asia. Two were Christian workers and two were visiting believers. They encountered a Western Highlander monk who, along with three other Highlanders, heard the story of the Redeemer who loves them. They were left with resources in their dialect to read while they went about their day. The believers also encountered a shop owner and a man who suffered from health issues. They too heard the Good News in the national language and were left with material in their dialect. * Please pray for these six Western Highlanders, asking that the Holy Spirit will give them understanding through the Word of their need for a Savior. * Ask God to break into the hearts and minds of Muslim men, women and children living in the Deccan, India—to break into their hearts in this generation. * Pray for boldness on the part of followers of Jesus to get “out there”--not to “market” Jesus as one would a product or a service; but rather, with love and humility to bring the message and person of Jesus to them. |
