| Prayer requests on the website are updated every Monday-Friday at 9:30 a.m., EST June 23, 2014 “Tell to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and His strength and His wondrous works that He has done.” (Psalm 78:4b, NKJV) WORLD LEADER - “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Please pray today for Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar of Trinidad and Tobago (islands northeast of Venezuela). RUSSIA - In Soviet times, great restrictions were placed upon churches and believing families in regards to evangelizing children and youth under the age of 16. This practice is still widespread among Russian Baptists, who generally do not recognize professions of faith by young children or train them in missions service. Most are not baptized until they are 15 or 16 years old. However, due in large part to an IMB worker, one pastor’s wife in Far East Russia has been impressed by the Lord to reconsider this, and even to prepare her dissertation on these topics. Pray for Irina*, asking that she will be able to influence other church leaders across the region to prepare the hearts of their children to serve the Father, as He calls them out. (*pseudonym) YAWO OF NORTHERN MOZAMBIQUE (YAH-oo) - “Many times Rash* has had an opportunity to hear a Gospel presentation. However, each time we start into a ‘spiritual conversation,’ he quickly changes the subject and even tells us that he does not want to hear any stories we may have to share from God’s Word. Rash is an older, educated Muslim who works as a guard. Often, however, when visitors come and conversations turn to God’s Word, we see Rash working close by . . . close enough to hear what is being said. Recently he was offered a copy of God’s Word to read for himself. With so little written material available for people to read, he readily received the Word. We often see him reading during his lunch breaks and late afternoons after he has finished his work. Would you pray that God’s Word will come alive and speak to his heart? Pray that God’s Holy Spirit will do His work in Rash’s heart to cause him to hunger after Truth. People all around us are so blinded and spiritually dead. (When someone is spiritually dead, there is no movement, no seeking, no sense of remorse--nothing!) Pray that God will work in their spirits to bring them to eternal life.” (*pseudonym) For additional prayer requests, click here: Today’s Prayer (If you have difficulty with this link, please go to www.imb.org and click on the “Pray” tab, and then click on the “Today’s Prayer” link in the left-hand column.) |
