“The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.” (Psalm 19:9b-10, NKJV)

Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, joining you in prayer for rural dwellers.

The people of Northeast Uttermost, East Asia, live in a place where, for more than half the year, the temperature is below freezing. As the frozen land thaws and spring is apparent, the area is filled with beautiful apricot blooms, budding willow trees, and white birch trees. New life is everywhere. Expatriate workers minister alongside Christian nationals to reach the 40 million people in this area and desire to see new life and deep roots as young believers study God’s Word. They seek the next generation of leaders and for the church to have a burden for world missions.

For the last several weeks, Gurage believers in Ethiopia have traveled to livestock markets periodically to look for good-quality goats to purchase for future distribution to rural women and their families. Little by little, they are finding female goats that fit the necessary requirements. They will give these goats to poor women, visit them, provide veterinary care, and pray for their family’s needs.

The Hadramaut of Yemen is famous for its delicious honey, which is sold on the Arabian Peninsula and elsewhere in the Middle East. Beehives dot the countryside, and the keepers move them around to the variety of flowering plants so that the bees can taste of the nectar, producing many flavors of honey.

* Please pray that the people of the Hadramaut will have opportunity to hear of the judgments and salvation of the Lord, which is sweeter than any honey in their land.

* Ask the Lord to bless the distribution of goats and the resulting herds so that they will provide economically for the families.

* Intercede for the “spiritual climate” of the church in Northeast Uttermost, asking that the believers will be intentional about discipleship training, walking in the Word, and proclaiming the Gospel.
