“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33, NKJV)

Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, praying with you for those facing persecution.

Frank* is a young man of Southern Tunisia who read the Word and turned to the Lord in faith and repentance. When he shared his new faith with his family, they disowned him and kicked him out of their house, leaving him homeless. The Lord has been sustaining Frank and giving him peace in very difficult circumstances. He was baptized in the sea in obedience to the Word, and as he emerged from the chilly blue water, Frank exclaimed, “I am new!” He continues to share with friends and whoever else will listen, and has given his copy of the Word away several times. Praise the Father for working in this young man’s life!

In the midst of darkness, the Lord was there. A recent attack on a group of Pashtun believers in Central Asia was a very real and tangible reminder that God is truly the Protector. In the midst of evil and violence, not a single person for whom the attack was intended was harmed. It is easy to become discouraged when violence and hatred seems to be such a constant presence, but God has already overcome all evil.

There is a growing group of young radical activists in Sub-Saharan Africa. Recent reports tell of evangelists being beaten for their belief in Christ alone, of churches being knocked down, and most recently of a church being attacked by radicals, with several church members losing their lives.

* Please pray for national believers and personnel, asking that God will encourage them in the work that He has called them to do.

* Give praise to the Lord that so many in Central Asia escaped such a terrible attack unharmed.

* Ask that Frank and other believers experiencing persecution will be rooted and built up in their faith through fiery trials.
