“I assure you: Whoever does not welcome the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” (Mark 10:15, HCSB)

Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, encouraging you to pray for school children.

Alberto* and Katia* are a young couple working as tentmakers--teachers--in the southern area of Colombia. They are reaching out to several different indigenous people groups. This is an area where different groups who live outside the law still have a strong influence, and it’s an area where these groups continue to practice forced conscription of minors. These young people have little opportunity to learn and practice their own community’s handicrafts and, at the same time, be exposed to Bible stories. In one indigenous community, Alberto and Katia have been given access to 38 children who study at the local school.

School is almost out for the summer! These words generate as much excitement in the hearts of children in Mongolia as they do elsewhere. During the years of Communism in Mongolia, a summer Pioneer camp was available for all children, but since 1990, few camps of any kind have been held for children, and those camps are seldom free. At the end of this school year, a group of visiting believers will hold an English day camp in a town and a camp for children of alcoholics in a city, both free of charge.

Education is very important in any culture and parents desire for their children to excel in school. Unfortunately, classrooms are not accessible by all. Some Chuabo children, third through fifth grades, are coming to Coalane Church in Mozambique to learn how to read and do simple math. Their greatest need is to know the Savior.

* Please pray that the church will be able to use this program to reach many families for Christ, and pray for more workers to help with the children each week.

* Ask God to draw children to these camps in Mongolia and to give them open hearts to receive the Gospel.

* Pray that a church in Colombia will be willing to adopt the local school and will collect and send school supplies as a tangible way of sharing God’s love with these 38 children.
