“Fight the good fight for the faith; take hold of eternal life that you were called to and have made a good confession about in the presence of many witnesses.” (1 Timothy 6:12, HCSB)

Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, praying with you for those who are constantly sharing a witness of their faith in Jesus Christ.

Several years ago we started praying for the Udmurt of Russia. Workers share how God has been at work, “Their warm hospitality and love for their culture was evident when we first crossed paths with two elderly Udmurts, Vladimir* and Ludmilla*. Since then, we’ve shared many afternoons with them, drinking tea and eating potato pies. In the past, they listened politely to the Gospel but had little interest in spiritual things. They have recently been given a Bible in Udmurt, their heart language. Ludmilla said that reading the Bible can change your heart.”

Chau* is a young believer in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, who has a passion to see God’s kingdom multiply in this city of 10 million people and beyond. Every day Chau takes time to share the Gospel with the people around her. Each week she moves among six different areas to meet with new believers to disciple them. It is her heart’s desire that they, too, will accept God’s call to invest in the lives of a next generation of believers.

Paved roads, dirt roads, donkey-cart paths, and walkways . . . these all lead to Western Niger Fulani villages. Journeyman Travis Fennessy and International Service Corps worker Austin Holcomb, who are serving as “nomadic disciplers,” travel these routes by motorcycle or four-wheel-drive truck, sharing meals, spending the night in villages, and telling Bible stories.

* Please pray for Travis and Austin as they continue to build their language skills that they will speak the Word of God clearly and have patience as the hottest time of the year approaches.

* Pray that in each of the six locations where Chau works, a new, multiplying church will be started.

* Pray for the Word to penetrate the hearts of the Udmurt people, giving them new life through Jesus Christ.
