“The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few. Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.” (Matthew 9:37-38, HCSB)

WORLD LEADER - “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Please pray today for Prime Minister Stephen Harper of Canada (northern North America).

SOUTH ASIAN PEOPLES - Please pray for the people of northern India and Pakistan as significant flooding is causing major issues. Pray for all those affected. Start praying for the massive clean-up and recovery efforts that will begin soon. Ask for protection against disease and illness. Pray that the people will turn to the Lord during this time of suffering and sorrow as they deal with the loss of life and property. Pray for the stamina and health of those ministering in this situation.

HONG KONG AND MACAU, CHINA (ma-COW) - Universities in both Hong Kong and Macau have begun a new school year. Many university students get involved in English-conversation activities and programs as a way to improve their English-speaking skills. Some of these programs involve faith-based workers and volunteers who have a heart to share the Good News with these students. Because of restrictions on open evangelism on campus, they find other ways to share. One program involves having English tables, where volunteers and students discuss current events. These discussions lead to an understanding of a person’s worldview, which opens up an opportunity to share God’s view of events. Developing and establishing relationships with these students is key to having opportunities to share the Gospel. Pray that many university students will participate in these faith-based, English-speaking programs. Pray for more volunteers to become involved in these programs so that more students can be reached. May this new school year see a huge harvest!

NEW LABORERS FOR THE HARVEST - Praise God for last month’s responses to the new Macedonia Expo! Thank Him for the exciting cooperation between Southern Baptist seminaries and the International Mission Board that will allow this particular group of applicants to combine theological study with concurrent field experience. Please continue praying for the applicants, as they will face challenges of time management in order to meet the demands of online classes and apprentice requirements during their first term of service. Pray that they will find creative and effective means of blending all the elements in a way that leads to “divine opportunities” to share the Gospel abundantly.
