“Everyone who asks receives, and the one who searches finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” (Matthew 7:8, HCSB)

WORLD LEADER - “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Please pray today for Prime Minister Sir Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei (southeastern Asia, bordering the South China Sea and Malaysia).

GUJARATI OF INDIA (goo-juh-RAH-tee) - Once again, the festival season has begun in Gujarat. It began with a 10-day celebration honoring the god Ganesh. People have brought giant idols of Ganesh into their homes. They will worship him for 10 days, and then they will carry him in procession to the nearest large body of water. This celebration began on August 29 and will continue through September 8. September’s end will see nine days of celebration known as Navratri (September 25 through October 3). During this time, people will dance far into the night, worshiping the goddesses of the harvest. The entire state of Gujarat will be very involved in these celebrations and worship of their gods. Please pray for the Light to shine in the state of Gujarat during this dark month. Ask the Holy Spirit to break the hold of evil over this place. Pray for believers to stand firm and bold before their neighbors and families. Pray for churches and workers here who will be conducting alternative celebrations during this time.

SUB-SAHARAN AFRICAN PEOPLES - Violent persecution and radical religious groups are just a couple of the obstacles that believers face in one country of the Central Sahel Cluster. Christian leaders travel to preach, disciple, and encourage fellowship groups. The work can be discouraging and even dangerous. Early this month, there will be a meeting for these Christian leaders. Please pray that Bible study, leadership development, and the encouragement of meeting with others of like faith will refresh these men and prepare them to stay the course and to finish the race. Pray for the hundreds of fellowship groups that are affected by these leaders, asking that they will grow in number and in faith.
