| Prayer requests on the website are updated every Monday-Friday at 9:30 a.m., EST September 9, 2014 “Again, I assure you: If two of you on earth agree about any matter that you pray for, it will be done for you by My Father in heaven.” (Matthew 18:19, HCSB) WORLD LEADER - “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Please pray today for King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia (southeastern Asia, between Thailand and Vietnam). FRENCH-SPEAKING JEWS OF FRANCE AND ISRAEL - In December, you were asked to pray for Nelly*, a believer’s friend who had undergone brain surgery in another country. The believing stranger who took her in during her recovery, at no charge, finally had to ask her to leave, as she was expecting relatives. Nelly returned to France, never having made the connection between the love of her hostess and the love of Jesus. In Paris, her home is in the heart of the Muslim community. Within a two-week period, she was attacked in her own apartment and foiled an attempted robbery in her neighborhood market, suffering multiple injuries in each situation. Her believing friend thinks these incidents were related to the heightened tensions and boldness of the population. Afraid for her life, Nelly left in search of safety and relaxation. She chose Israel. Two weeks after her arrival, Hamas renewed the intensity of their rocket attacks on Israeli cities. Thinking that she was far from harm’s way, she laughed at her Paris friend, saying her friend was in greater danger in Paris than she was in Israel. But her tranquility was shattered when a rocket came close to her car on the highway. Terrified, now she is afraid to stay, and afraid to leave. Pray that Nelly will understand what her Paris friend is sharing about how she deals with fear: that our Savior has conquered death and has gone to prepare a place for us. Pray that her heart will finally give in to His calling. (*name changed) PEOPLE OF THE HIGHLANDS OF JALISCO, MEXICO (hah-LEES-coh) - “Recently there was a youth event in the Highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, in which youth went out in groups of two to look for ‘men and women of peace’ in several cities, according to the instructions given in Luke 10:1-12. These youth told Bible stories to people, as they searched for ‘men and women of peace’ to open their homes to feed and host them. Some youth found people who were open to the Gospel, while others struggled with hunger, a lack of shelter, and harassment from local priests and policemen. Please pray for the follow-up efforts as our Highlands of Jalisco Team returns to the homes that seemed open to the Gospel. We want to start Bible studies in these homes, so please pray that Satan will not snatch away the seeds of the Gospel through his scare tactics.” For additional prayer requests, click here: Today’s Prayer (If you have difficulty with this link, please go to www.imb.org and click on the “Pray” tab, and then click on the “Today’s Prayer” link in the left-hand column.) |
