“For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.” (2 Chronicles 16:9a, NKJV)

WORLD LEADER - “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Please pray today for President Pierre Nkurunziza of Burundi (central Africa, east of Democratic Republic of the Congo).

JOLA-FONYI OF SENEGAL AND THE GAMBIA (JOH-luh-FOH-nyee) - “Thank you for praying for rain for the Casamance region of Senegal. Praise God that in answer to your prayers, we have received enough rain for the animals to have green things to eat and for the farmers to plant some crops! But we are still way behind in the total amount of rain needed. There is no water in the rice fields. We normally receive large amounts of rain two or three times a week, and that is not happening. Please continue to ask God to send enough rain to meet the needs of the people, and pray that the people will know that it’s from the true and living God.”

PEOPLE OF NORTH JAPAN - The city of Sendai (pronounced sen-dye) and the towns of Kamaishi (kah-mah-ee-shee) and Otsuchi (oh-tsoo-chee) in Japan were greatly affected by the March 11, 2011, earthquake and tsunami. Sendai is the largest city in northern Japan, with a population of approximately 1 million. Close to both the sea and the mountains, it is a comfortable, pleasant city and is considered to be a nice place to live. The main avenues around the city are wide and tree-lined, giving Sendai an almost European feel. Northeast of Sendai, the towns of Kamaishi (population: 40,000) and Otsuchi (population: 11,000) are both active in commercial fishing and shellfish production. The earthquake and tsunami wiped out most of their coastal businesses and homes. Yet in Kamaishi, no more than five school-age children were lost in the tsunami, in what is known locally as the “Kamaishi Miracle.” Immediately after the earthquake struck, the students of one school evacuated to higher ground; this had a ripple effect, as the other schools followed suit, as did many of the local residents. Their prompt response saved lives when the tsunami hit. A new “Kamaishi Miracle” is needed in which many lives will be saved for eternity. Perhaps the children will lead the way again! Please pray for the salvation of the people of North Japan.
