| Prayer requests on the website are updated every Monday-Friday at 9:30 a.m., EST September 18, 2014 “Leave the children alone, and don’t try to keep them from coming to Me, because the kingdom of heaven is made up of people like this.” (Matthew 19:14, HCSB) WORLD LEADER - “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Please pray today for President Michelle Bachelet Jeria of Chile (western South America). JAHANKA OF SENEGAL, GUINEA AND THE GAMBIA (jah-HONK-kay) - “Give us today our daily bread” (Matthew 6:11, ESV). The need expressed in this verse is a reality in the lives of many Jahanka, among them a young man named Chuck.* His father abandoned the family several years ago. His mother was unable to make enough money to feed all nine of her children, so Chuck and his older brother, who were teenagers, had to quit school and find work. It is a day-to-day struggle for them to earn enough to meet all the needs of the family. In a similar way, the Jahanka strive daily to please God through good works. Every day they do ritual prayers and other things, but they never know if they’ve done enough to be able to enter heaven if they should die. Thankfully, although Chuck, his brother, and his mother do not always know where their daily bread is coming from, they do know Jesus, the Bread of life, and are following Him. Pray that this family’s physical needs will be met in a way that glorifies God. Pray also that other Jahanka will turn to Jesus and find the hope and peace they are seeking. (*name changed) TUNISIAN ARABS OF SOUTHERN TUNISIA (too-NEE-zhan) - During Ramadan, Aziz* and a group of friends went to a popular coffee shop. Cigarette and “shisha” (a water pipe) smoke thickened the air, mingling with the smell of fresh jasmine strung on necklaces that were being worn around the room. Well after midnight, Aziz began discussing the differences between the Quran and the Bible with a follower of Jesus. He had believed all his life that these two books taught the same thing, and when confronted with Truth, he became very defensive. Aziz and his friends have agreed to begin studying the Bible with followers of Jesus, so please pray that the Word will not return empty (Isaiah 55:12), and that the Helper will convict and lead them to repentance and belief in the Son!
