| Prayer requests on the website are updated every Monday-Friday at 9:30 a.m., EST September 15, 2014 “Declare His glory among the nations, His wonderful works among all peoples.” (1 Chronicles 16:24, HCSB) WORLD LEADER - “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Please pray today for Governor Helen Kilpatrick of Cayman Islands (northwestern Caribbean Sea). SOUTH TOKYO, JAPAN (TOH-kyoh) - A Christian homeless man was attacked and killed in July in central Tokyo. H-san* was in his early 60s and was an active member of the At Home homeless ministry of Tokyo Baptist Church and of the multi-church-supported Sidewalk Chapel that meets every Saturday morning in a main park in central Tokyo. A written copy of his testimony was read at his memorial service, and his brothers from Hokkaido, the northernmost island of Japan, who are not Christians, heard it and were given a copy of his testimony. H-san played the guitar and had recently started practicing with a small praise group that was scheduled to sing at the Sidewalk Chapel. He also wanted to use his guitar and singing to do evangelism at the main park in central Tokyo where many homeless people live. Pray for the homeless men and women who have lost everything of earthly value, but who have found their true treasure in Jesus. May they find comfort and peace during these days. Pray for H-san’s brothers to read and re-read his testimony and open their hearts to the One who cared for their homeless brother. Ask the Lord to protect others in the homeless community from further attacks so that harm will not come to the harmless. Like a grain of wheat that falls and dies so that a great harvest may grow, ask that H-san’s life and testimony will produce a great harvest in the homeless community. (*name changed) SOUTHEAST ASIAN PEOPLES - “‘Get to group’ is the earnest prayer of workers all over our island. The Gospel is being shared more broadly and consistently than ever before. The local church is praying and ‘owning the vision’ of reaching out more than ever. People are coming to faith regularly, but the challenge is getting the new believers grouped into reproducing house fellowships. Pray for field workers to have the wisdom needed to be more creative and effective in starting new groups. Many of the new believers are isolated and do not have other believers living near them. Pray for multiple people to accept the Lord in the same area; ask for entire households to come to faith together. Cry out to the Lord for new groups on our island among all 51 of our unreached people groups (UPGs).” For additional prayer requests, click here: Today’s Prayer (If you have difficulty with this link, please go to www.imb.org and click on the “Pray” tab, and then click on the “Today’s Prayer” link in the left-hand column.) |
