“In him you also, who have heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and have believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit.” (Ephesians 1:13, NASB)

Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, praying with you for the salvation of those reading God’s Word.

An Ethiopian friend went to visit his family and relatives in the country. He took with him five or more Bibles and a solar-powered audio player containing the Gospel, Bible stories, and songs. The audio player was for a blind couple. Both husband and wife are blind, but they will be able to work the audio player easily and listen to God’s Word.

Kay* and her husband are Rumelian Turks living in the Balkans. They have grown close to a family of workers. When the workers went away and then returned, it was Kay and her husband who picked them up at the airport, carried their luggage, and drove four hours to bring them home. A couple of days later, as they were eating dinner together in the workers’ home, Kay became very curious about the family Bible and asked to see one in Turkish. Kay and her husband don’t seem to be following Islamic traditions very carefully; however, Kay’s mother adheres strictly to all the religious rules and obligations and Kay’s husband hasn’t seemed pleased when Christian literature has been offered to them in the past. Kay is very willing, though, to take a book her husband doesn’t know about. As a couple, they often seem to compete with one another, and their marriage relationship can be strained at times. The workers are preparing to give her a Bible in her own language, one that has been marked for Kay so that specific verses will be easy to find.

* Please pray that God’s Word will be read by both Kay and her husband and be applied faithfully to their lives.

* Pray for all those who will read and hear the Bibles in Ethiopia, asking that the Holy Spirit will enlighten their dark minds with Truth and that many people will come to faith in Jesus.

* Intercede for your neighbors who may have never heard the truth of Jesus and ask God to provide openings to share with them.
