| Prayer requests on the website are updated every Monday-Friday at 9:30 a.m., EST October 2, 2014 "The LORD has heard my plea for help; the LORD accepts my prayer.” (Psalm 6:9, HCSB) WORLD LEADERS - "Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence" (1 Timothy 2:1-2, NKJV). Please pray today for President Raul Castro Ruz of Cuba (Caribbean Sea). SOUTH ASIAN HINDU FESTIVALS - In October, another very big Hindu festival will be upon us: Diwali. This is a five-day festival that “signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair” (Wikipedia). Wouldn’t it be awesome if those who celebrated victory over darkness actually knew that there is victory over darkness? Not only that, but that they can have knowledge that leads to hope instead of despair? They can! Will you pray for that? For the sake of His name being made great among the nations, will you gather a group in October for a prayer time focused on the unique needs of South Asian Hindu women? “Adorned with His Light” is a very detailed guide that will help you to do just that! You don’t have to have led a group before. This guide will lead you right through it. The Diwali Festival begins on Tuesday, October 21, and ends on Saturday, October 25. Consider planning an event during those days and have your friends mark their calendars! If you cannot hold your event during those specific days, don’t worry. The “Adorned with His Light” guide is not dated, but it does coincide perfectly with the festival, since Diwali is also known as the “Festival of Lights.” Pray that the true Light of the world will shine throughout South Asia. SUB-SAHARAN AFRICAN PEOPLES - If you travel much in West Africa, you will soon find yourself behind a huge truck overloaded with goods and sometimes with a goat or two tied to the top. Truck drivers travel from coastal countries, where ships bring in goods to be delivered all over West Africa. What would a church look like for such a transient group of people? IMB personnel, Southern Baptist volunteers, and local Baptist churches are partnering together to begin the very first “Trucker Church.” A restaurant in Cote d’Ivoire that is usually closed on Sundays is offering their space for a group to meet. Please pray for the first service, which will be held on October 5. Lift up this body of Christ as they come together for worship and fellowship. Pray for local churches to adopt the ports where the truckers gather as they await loads to haul. Pray for the believing truckers to be bold in their faith as they travel all over West Africa.
