| Prayer requests on the website are updated every Monday-Friday at 9:30 a.m., EST October 31, 2014 “They continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.” (Acts 2:42, 47b, NKJV) WORLD LEADERS - "Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence" (1 Timothy 2:1-2, NKJV). Please pray today for President Yahya Jammeh of The Gambia (western Africa, bordering the North Atlantic Ocean and Senegal). KABYLE BERBERS OF ALGERIA AND FRANCE (kuh-BEEL BER-bers) - Lynda* was a sad, troubled woman seeking healing and solace through charms and black magic. She collaborated with a friend, Arlene*, in some shady dealings, and Arlene cheated her. The two parted ways, and had no contact for 10 years . . . until Lynda responded to a knock at her door and opened it to find a trembling woman, who cried out, “I’ve finally found you!” It was Arlene, and she poured out her story. She and her husband had continued to do evil, until one day they were both mysteriously and simultaneously struck with partial paralysis of face and limb. One night she had a dream in which a figure on a cloud told her to find Lynda and seek reconciliation. She told of the miraculous events that had led her to Lynda’s door. Lynda said, “I left my dark past behind when I encountered ‘the way, the truth and the life.’ I began walking in the light.” Arlene tearfully begged, “Please forgive me. I’m sorry for all the pain I caused you.” Lynda put her arms around her and said, “Of course, I forgive you. I myself have been forgiven much. You’re my friend.” This evidence of God’s sovereign way of directing people and events strengthened Lynda’s faith and renewed her hope in His marvelous plans. Please pray for a miracle of healing and belief for Arlene, and for Lynda’s faith and witness to Muslim family members and friends of her past and present. (*names changed) LUGBARA OF UGANDA (loog-BAR-ah) - The Lugbara Team asks: “Pray for the leadership team as they evaluate the great things God did at the August leadership camp and plan for the future. Significant questions are under discussion, such as: How will this ministry survive and thrive without the presence of missionaries? How does the leadership team need to develop to fully own and lead this ministry? What are the priority spiritual needs to address among those who are being discipled? Some of the young adults who were trained at the camp want to join the leadership team. This will require a big commitment of time and energy, as well as accountability and service while leading others. Ask God to encourage and lead each young person as they begin new small groups in their homes, schools, and communities in order to share the Gospel and make disciples.” For additional prayer requests, click here: Today’s Prayer (If you have difficulty with this link, please go to www.imb.org and click on the “Pray” tab, and then click on the “Today’s Prayer” link in the left-hand column.) |
