Earlier this year, Mr. Button* was experiencing pain that doctors confirmed was not due to a physical ailment. Mr. Button acknowledged, “The real problem is inside me.” Give thanks to God that this Bedouin man from Northern Africa is continuing to frequent the home of some believers. Each time he brings at least one friend with him. Recently he and a repeat friend joined the believers for dinner. After the meal, they began asking more and more questions about Jesus, sin, the prophets, and eternal life. Both Mr. Button and his friend were engaged in the conversation and were eagerly seeking to know more. The believers later visited his home and met Mrs. Button. While she did not ask many questions, she did listen intently as her sisters-in-law, who were present, asked many of those same questions. Sallie* is a grandmother and sells millet at the entrance to the military camp in Dakar, Senegal. Sallie* was Muslim and was also known to be demon possessed for six years. She sought help from numerous “marabouts” (religious leaders), but to no avail. When someone told her that maybe people at the evangelical church could help, she went to them. They prayed for Sallie; the demon left, and Sallie gave her life to Jesus. Then Sallie’s husband abandoned her, and almost everyone she knew turned against her. But her faith is strong. Sallie can’t read, so she listens to Bible stories on a solar-powered audio player. She is thrilled at all she is learning. * Please pray for Sallie, asking that God will use her to reach others for Jesus. * Intercede for Mr. Button’s family as they search for the One who can heal body, mind and spirit. * Give thanks for the grace the Lord has showered upon you. *name changed |
