“To know wisdom and instruction, To perceive the words of understanding, To receive the instruction of wisdom, Justice, judgment, and equity; To give prudence to the simple, To the young man knowledge and discretion—A wise man will hear and increase learning, And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel.” (Proverbs 1:2-5, NKJV)

Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, encouraging you to pray for children in classrooms.

Thousands of students of all ages fill buses and subway cars in Beijing, China, as they head off to class. This is a time when many students will be receptive to new things as they begin new classes and are presented with new ideas and challenges. It’s also a time when the pressure that comes with school will leave many feeling overworked and depressed, believing that they are unable to meet all the expectations placed on them. Parents will be strongly “encouraging” the students as they head into the classroom, and the pressure to be the top student can be overwhelming for many. One of the greatest needs is for a Christian presence on every campus across the city, whether it’s a pre-school of 3 to 5 year olds, an elementary school, a secondary school, or a university.

Thousands of international students from China attend universities throughout British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. There are believers connecting with students at the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, Langara College, and the University of Alberta.

Teachers in Ukraine play an important role in the lives of their pupils by providing not only an education, but also security and stability. Some students lost access to their classrooms because of the conflict in eastern Ukraine.

* Please pray that children in Ukraine will still be able to study, whether their schools were damaged or not.

* Intercede for Chinese students in Canada that they will hear the Gospel and turn to Jesus Christ for salvation.

* Intercede for students in Beijing who are Christians to be bold in the expression of their faith--both in their lifestyle choices and in the words they share.
