| Prayer requests on the website are updated every Monday-Friday at 9:30 a.m., EST October 3, 2014 "Sing to the LORD, who dwells in Zion; proclaim His deeds among the nations.” (Psalm 9:11, HCSB) WORLD LEADERS - "Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence" (1 Timothy 2:1-2, NKJV). Please pray today for President Nikos Anastasiadis of Cyprus (island south of Turkey in Mediterranean Sea). DECISION MAKERS OF CAIRO, EGYPT - This month, Muslims will celebrate Abraham’s obedience to God, demonstrated by his willingness to sacrifice his firstborn son, Ishmael. The Eid al Adha, “The Feast of the Sacrifice,” occurs around October 4. Some Muslims participate in the Hajj, for this is the time for the pilgrimage to Mecca. Friends and family send them off with a celebration at an airport terminal especially built for the crowds. Muslims fast the day before the Eid. After the dawn of the first day of the holiday, an imam (religious leader) leads the prayer and gives a special speech. Men participate in mosques, women and children stay in large tents, and many fill the streets around the mosques. People celebrate with new clothes and pass out candy. After this, families go to the butcher to view the sacrifice of their sheep, goat, cow, or camel. Streets, which have been filled weeks before with animals to be sold, become lined with chairs as families sit and watch a man cut their animal’s throat. Then several men skin and cut the meat into portions: one third for their personal feast; another third for a gift to neighbors, family and friends; and the final third for an offering to the poor. The feasts continue for four days as families, friends and neighbors take turns eating in each other’s homes. Please ask the Father to use this holiday to reveal to Muslims that His Son is the Lamb of God whose sacrifice takes away the sins of the world. TORCH PEOPLE OF EAST ASIA - It took three years to translate the Gospel of Luke, and it then required 18 voices to overdub the “JESUS” film. But now 1,000 copies of the “JESUS” film in the local dialect have safely arrived! Village churches have not only developed a strategy for distribution, but also for follow-up. Pray for Torch believers’ boldness and confidence as they distribute these DVDs. Ask the Holy Spirit to prepare and draw the heart of every Torch person who will “hear-see” the Gospel.
