Can you describe the spiritual climate of Europe? If you’ve traveled there and have seen the beautiful churches and cathedrals that are prominent in most cities, towns and villages, you may be tempted to think that Europeans are very religious. The truth is that nearly 99 percent of Europeans do not have a personal relationship with Christ. In many ways, Europe could be considered Satan’s playground. He has blinded and deceived the multitudes, luring them away from God and convincing them that they can find happiness in the world, rather than through a relationship with God’s Son. Will you join the European peoples affinity, as they seek to change these statistics, by participating in their Day of Prayer for Europeans on October 19? In most Baptist churches in the six countries of the Black Sea Orthodox Cluster, “Harvest Day” is celebrated in early October. Members of the body of Christ bring in fruits and vegetables, along with seasonal flowers, all of which are arranged in beautiful displays in the church. It is a time of giving praise to the Father for His provision throughout the year, and of asking for continued blessings upon His church and these lands. “What’s it gonna take” to see a movement of discipleship and church planting in the Russian-speaking part of Europe? Workers have a strategy of helping Russians witness to 20,000 people a year and of developing groups that will become multiple generations of healthy, safe churches. For a region embroiled in political turmoil, they know fervent prayer is foundational. * Please pray that God will continue to use the present crisis in Russia to advance His kingdom. * Pray that the Lord will call out many national believers of the Black Sea Orthodox Cluster to go into the harvest field outside their doors and across their land, proclaiming the salvation in Jesus. * Intercede for Europeans to seek God before it's too late and to place their faith in His Son. |
